During the last two weeks of August, Omenga's piazzas, streets and its historic centre host events, free concerts, markets and charity initiatives. The fireworks at the lake, accompanied by suggestive music, are the most anticipated event and attract huge crowds. The festival celebrates Saint Vito, who together with Saint Ambrogio is the town's patron saint. Celebrations include the Mass at the Collegiata church and the traditional procession carrying the urn with the saint's remains.
Outdoor theatre performances, creativity workshops, fantastic shows, artist performances, themed exhibition walks, fireworks, dancing fountains and digital animation... Every August, in occasion of the patron saint's festival, Omegna's Fantasy Park throws a 10-day party with free activities at the Forum Gardens. An occasion for all the family to learn and have fun in the town designed for children.
Ultra Trail Lago d’Orta is a sports event hosted by our town every October. Since 2010, this mountain race is attended by more than 1000 trail-runners from all around the world. It includes 5 different courses of different lengths (120, 82, 58, 34 and 17 km), which unwind up and down the hills around Lake Orta, across beautiful surroundings. In Omengna's town centre, inside the village set up especially for the event – the starting and finishing line of all races – visitors can watch the runners arrive and visit the stands of the companies specialised in the outdoor sector.
Celebrated since 2014, the Children's Literature Festival named after Gianni Rodari is becoming a recurring autumn appointment in our town. Thanks to its 10-day schedule, the cultural event brings to Omegna a number of illustrious Italian and international names from the world of children's literature and an array of theatre performances, screenings, readings and creative activities for a free Festival that has no age limit. During the Festival, our town turns into a "workshop", where projects and performances can be carried out in name of creativity, sharing and conviviality. The Festival is also the opportunity to present the Rodari Awards in four different categories: illustrated books, fairy tales and nursery rhymes, theatre performances and video-fairy tales.
A 3-day multi-sport event celebrated in July, at the height of Lake Orta's summer season. Competitions range from basketball to five-a-side football and beach volley, but also include dancing and fitness performances, boxing, tennis, swimming, ping pong, apnoea, waterpolo, canoeing, synchronised swimming and lots more. Music and food stands set up for charity by Admo Cusio Verbano (bone marrow donors association) and Slums Dunk Onlus are also part of the event. The street games take place in Omegna's historic town centre and the streets are busy with crafts markets.
Every spring, since 2015, Cireggio hosts an agricultural and livestock trade fair near Monte Zuoli, Omegna's highest hill. The event is organised by Pro Cireggio in collaboration with local livestock farmers and features bovines, sheep, goats and horses. During the event, which welcomes families and children, visitors can take advantage of a large and well-equipped pick nick area and enjoy local specialities. In the streets, stalls sell the best local products.
