Omegna - Mottarone Omegna - Alpe del Barba – Tre Alberi - Vetta Mottarone

The classic itinerary, accessible to everyone. 

You can start off from Madonna del Popolo square (large car park), or drive up till the end of Via Nobili. Immediately after the bridge, the path turns right and enters the woodland (follow the white/red marks): you will reach a nice viewpoint.

Pass the high-tension pylon and continue across the chestnut tree woodland. You will reach a damp area and the ruins of an old hut, “Alpe del Tredas”. Continue downhill and cross the stream, “Rio Manera”, then start walking uphill until you reach a hut, “Alpe del Barba”; from there, the path continues behind the hut and uphill until it reaches “Tre Alberi (Three Trees)”.

Continue across the woodland to the left along a sandy and rocky path, until you reach a wood of birch trees known as “Pian della Nave” and then arrive near the huge rock (“dell'Omo”), where there is a weathercock whose reflections can be seen from Omegna. From there, follow the path towards the sky-lift station, then continue in the direction of “CAI” hut and to the top of Mottarone.
