In Verta hamlet we can both park in the small square of Ronco or take to Bertogna street.
Once parked, we go to the left and then to the right on the stairway, identifying the white and red sign.
We enter the path toward a rocky mass to overpass, then we take the path on the left , till we reach the “ vasca” and the “ Rio S.Rocco” fall, most known as “ Real Camin”.
We continue trough the chestnut tree wood and reach “Mastrolino” alp.
We leave the mountain pasture on our left and take the path, that gets in the wood, leaving the football court on the right. We now enter in an area called “ muia chisc” (a slightly swampy area) and continue to “Rio Bertogna” Valley. We go up along the path until “ pian del fo” and reach the first imposing reddish rocks that characterise Mottarone massif.
We continue until we overpass some traits equipped with chaines, because particularry open, a zone named “ la cruca” ( the hen), an area with the source right down the imposive granitic rock of “omo” on which a weather vane, whose reflex can be seen also from Omegna, is placed.
We go beyond the junction of the “ tre alberi” path in direction (always following the path) of the ski -lift station. We proceed to the “ baita cai” and then uphill to the Mottarone peak.
The return can be trough the same path or by choosing one of the other two described in this section.
