This path is interesting and well signposted but recommended to experienced walkers.
From La Verta zone we follow Bertogna street and park in the small square of Ronco.
Once left our car, we turn on the left first and on the right then, on a stairway, identifying the white and red sign.
We head towards a rocky mass to overcome, then we go uphill on the right side of the wood toward “ la selva”. We overcome a tiny house and reach , going up, Alpe Bertogna, after the lown, there’s a big chestnut tree, with a marvellous view.
Continuing on the path, we move to a stony ground and a hollow called “ bochetta”. We go on to north diagonally in direction of the peak. here the wood changes and plants of mountain ash, oak and beech can be seen.
Going uphill, we reach the “prea piata” ( flat pebbles), we continue for some hairpin bends with the “rio Inferno” valley on the left and the overhanging rocky ridge upwards.
Overpassed the big blocks of dark granite rock we come to the “gravina” at the “Om de Crusnall” foot.
We continue further on the ridge until “piano delle betulle” where opens an amazing view on the lake and the valleys around it. We proceed along the path in the wood until the curv on the right with passeges where we have to be very careful, overpassed the small rock and some big boulders we come to a slight slope. Walking below the ridge, we reach a “faggeta” tree, on the right we get out close to a source in proximity of the ski-lift and in a few minutes we reach the peak of Mottarone.
We can come back trough the same path or along one of the other two described in this section.
