A CITY DESIGNED FOR CHILDREN

Omegna, the town in which the famous children's literature writer Gianni Rodari was born, takes space dedicated to children very seriously. Below you will find a list of the main attractions designed for children and their families and a short description of each one.

PARKS, PLAYGROUNDS, TRAILS AND FANTASY!

1 The Rodari museum

The Rodari museum The Rodari museum is in the heart of Omegna historic centre and can be reached walking along a small street a little bit uphill, just like the Nigoglia canal which flows along the town and is one of the main identifying symbol of Cusio. It is not by chance that the first room of the museum is conceived to welcome people and contextualise the territory: the visitor is in front of doorway with arcades that reminds the Omegna ones and a projection of Nigoglia that developes in height and recalls the famous Rodari’s saying:   “La Nogoia la va in su e la legg la fouma nu”.   Come and discover the interactive museum , soon “widespread”, dedicated to Gianni Rodari and his amzing stories!

3 Omegna Playroom

Omegna Playroom Fantasy Park's Playroom is inspired by Gianni Rodari's nursery rhyme “Il bambino di gesso” (The Chalk Boy). The room is hosted on the ground floor of the Civic Library and is named after our illustrious fellow citizen. It is a space where children can enjoy different play areas, on their own, or with entertainers: wood building blocks, a blackboard to write on the wall, the kitchen, the indoor swings and a crossword puzzle on the ceiling. In the Playroom, children can watch, read, "touch" and "play" the stories written by Gianni Rodari, in an environment that reflects the beauty of Lake Orta. A space to create, have fun and reinvent oneself, available for parties and to celebrate birthdays in an original and smart way.

The Gardens of the Cake in the Sky Monte Zuoli is a 400-metre-high hill just 3 km from Omegna, with some interesting evidence of prehistoric culture. The park is on the hills overlooking Lake Orta. The rocky landscape has around twenty quite large "cup mark" engravings. The perfect place to play and enjoy the great outdoors, especially if you like walking and picnicking surrounded by nature. At the top of the hill there is an area with seats – some of which are sheltered – barbecue equipment and facilities for visitors.
